Chivalric Competitions, Rapier Competitions

• Chivalric Combat with padded weapons for entrants aged 6-9, 10-12 and 13-15.

Youth competitors are asked to send in letters of intent to compete in the competitions!

Each competition will begin with a round-robin list followed by any further pairings the judges wish to observe. Each bout will continue until one of the entrants has been struck 3 blows to any legal target. Entrants will acknowledge their own blows but the marshals will help to keep count. A panel of local nobles will judge honorable conduct, number of blows struck, technique, noble comportment, and appearance of each entrant. Each fighter should consider how to make their best impression through use of language, combat skills, and suitable attire for such an occasion. Any unsightly gear should be hidden beneath a torse and mantling, surcoat, tunic, trews, or other noble attire.

Marshals from the entourage of each entrant are welcome to assist with the conduct of the tournament, but each will be asked to excuse themselves from the field when their patron is engaged in combat. Entrants are welcome to engage their own heralds or to recruit from among any local heralds that might be available for hire on the day of the tournament.
